Less-Creative List Update

So about once a month in my search for creativity, I find something that should not be done so creatively.

Here’s a recap:

Things To Do Less Creatively:

1. Driving. (And, more generally, following the “rules of the road” as a whole– bicyclists and pedestrians- this means you too!)
2. Phlebotomy
3. Oral Surgery.  Or any surgery.

This thought comes upon my having my third– and thankfully, last– wisdom tooth removed today.  And while the first two went out easy, this one did not!  We knew the roots were wrapped around a nerve, which would make things tricky.  An x-ray showed the tooth had rotated, leaving only a little part underneath the nerve.  This should have made things easier!  The dr. said all of the “normal things” wouldn’t make it budge and when all was said and done, it turns out I’d had a third root that hadn’t shown up on xray.

So while I was happy my Dr. was not so creative (as in, “hmm… let’s see if it works if I put the anesthetic in here….” *sticks needle somewhere random*), my mouth just had to grow that third root, huh?  Way to be creative, mouth.  We’ve graduated, you can stop trying to overachieve now.  You don’t win a prize for having more roots than the other teeth.  Really.

Now, I’m not knocking home remedies or natural/alternative medicines.  Or progressive doctors who save lives by doing an untraditional and perhaps risky procedure.  But, as a general, surgery should be done as uncreatively as possible.  You really don’t want to come out looking like a Picasso.
